Poulstone Court is a charming Victorian country house rebuilt in 1877 around an older core, which dates back to the 16th Century. The house has remained in the same family for over
The house is on three floors and surrounded by its own grounds. The grounds include extensive gardens, a large walled kitchen garden and several outbuildings. The oldest part of the buildings is the barn, some parts of which date back 450 years.
The views from all parts of the house are stunning. The grounds incorporate a Ha-Ha, which provides an uninterrupted vista of the rolling Wye valley landscape.
The gardens include the old tennis lawn, a walled garden, a stone sitting circle, a stand of beautiful old beech trees, an orchard, a fire pit and the giant Wellingtonia tree which has shaded many a conversation and moments of reflection.
The ornamental landscaped gardens have been developed gradually into a healing space. The ancient trees, flowers, fragrances, wildlife hold the space at Poulstone.
The house can sleep 34 people. There are 10 bedrooms in the house mainly comprising of twin rooms and large four bedded rooms. One single room is available and other rooms can be used as singles if the size of the group permits.
The house has six bathrooms, four with shower hoses and an additional four separate shower rooms. All the rooms are spacious, retaining much of their original character with lovely views onto the gardens and fields beyond.
The house is opened mindfully prior to a retreat creating a space for sharing and co-operation.
There are three large working areas for groups to use.

This room is generally used during break times and for relaxing but is also used for group work. The furniture in the library can be arranged to suit your needs.
The Barn is the largest working space with oak beams and lovely views over Poulstone’s walled garden. It is perfect for movement and bodywork.
Floor cushions, back jacks and upright chairs are available for use in all the rooms.
For Group Leaders
The self-contained facilitator’s flat within the main house is popular amongst group leaders. It comprises a spacious living room and dining area, bathroom, kitchen and two bedrooms.
Facilitators can relax in comfort between sessions and have privacy for team meetings or individual consultations with students.
There is small shop adjacent to the dining room, which is opened on request but generally opened during lunch on the last day of the retreat.
As well as toiletries and other basic supplies, the shop stocks an interesting selection of books, CDs, ornaments and gifts. We try to stock fairly traded or locally made items with a spiritual theme.
We also have cards, postcards, our own cookbook and - by popular demand – chocolate!
